John Bell

In early November of 2022, John Bell - an LLC Member, our Vice President of Estimating, Colleague, and Friend - passed away. John came to work for Urata & Sons in 1981 at the age of 21 after graduating from Chico State University. He was a talented estimator and quickly became an integral part of the company. Although, he left a few times to pursue other opportunities, he always came back to his Urata family, and we welcomed him back with open arms. His drive and commitment to his work was paramount to building the industry presence Urata and Sons Concrete has developed in Northern and Central California, Las Vegas, and Northern Nevada over the years. He was part of many iconic projects, such as the Las Vegas City Center, Folsom Prison, Thunder Valley Casino, and Google Bayview. Anyone who worked with John knew that he was brilliant at his craft, and he was well known and respected in the industry as one of the best. When Charlie Urata retired earlier this year, John Bell became an owner of Urata & Sons Concrete, LLC. He was excited to have attained his dream of company ownership and recently said that he was happy and excited to come to work each morning. His loss is felt deeply by all of us here at Urata & Sons and throughout the local community. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace, Mr. Bell.
